Hideaki Anno made this in university as a one-off college screening using nothing but paper, and somehow it moves with more personality than most professional productions. The constraint becomes the point, every frame is deliberately, aggressively hand-drawn in a way that modern anime forgot how to do. Watch it to understand where Anno's obsession with craft came from before he had the resources to destroy himself perfecting it.

Bus Tei Nite... is a one-episode comedy special made with paper animation. Hideaki Anno directed and animated it while he was a university student, and it was screened at a college event called First Pictures Show. It is an early student work from the director, made by hand in the paper medium.
