Ten amateurs made this alone, and it shows in every deliberate, haunting silhouette, refusing to let you celebrate what victory actually costs.

Peroo, a chimney sweep, led his country to victory in war with the help of something called "Eggs from Soldiers." He heads back to his hometown in triumph, but the road there is strewn with rubble, dead bodies and newly placed grave markers. The film is an anti-war fantasy told through shadow puppet animation, made up of some 20,000 frames. It was produced independently by Doeisha, a group of ten amateurs drawn mostly from Doshisha University students.
