Yuxi's surgery becomes the hinge on which everything turns: her relationships, her self-worth, the way people see her, the way she sees herself. What makes this work is the show's refusal to pretend the surgery doesn't matter, it does, it changes her life immediately, and that rush is real. But the closer she gets to the person she thought she wanted to be, the more the show reveals that "beautiful" was never the problem, and Huantao's promise was always incomplete. Han Yuxi has put up with criticism and cruelty over her looks for as long as she can remember. When she finds out her boyfriend has been cheating on her, she reaches a breaking point and goes to a hospital for plastic surgery. There she meets Ling Huantao, a handsome plastic surgeon who promises to make her beautiful.
