Nobody's talking about this four-minute fragment, but it exists in this weird space where the TV series hasn't happened yet and the art style is doing something completely different with the same characters. If you've seen Haré+Guu, watching this pilot is like seeing the show's skeleton before it learned how to move. The comedy timing here is looser, weirder, less polished than what the series would become.

Haré+Guu: The Illusive Pilot Film is a short comedy special from 2002 that runs about four minutes. It served as a promotional pilot and was released as a bonus alongside the Deluxe OVA. The film restages a handful of events from the TV series, but draws them in a graphic style that differs from the look of the main show.
