A bitter old man living alone in the mountains gets a granddaughter he never wanted, and the show simply watches what happens when kindness meets a closed heart. Heidi doesn't argue or fix him, she just lives next to him, day after day, until something cracks open. The pacing is glacial by modern standards, but that's the entire point: healing takes the full 52 episodes, and the slowness is what makes it real.

After she is orphaned, young Heidi is sent to live with her grandfather Öhi in the Alps. She soon learns he is a deeply bitter man who took her in only because he was forced to. Heidi's kindness, though, might be enough to reach him. Alongside Peter, a young shepherd, and Klara, an invalid girl, she sets out on many adventures in a gentle slice of life drama.
