Chu Mu starts as an heir drowning in exile, and the only thing keeping him alive is a fox that shouldn't be his to command. The pet mechanics aren't window dressing, your creature's growth IS your survival, a resource you're constantly gambling with in fights that don't care about your bloodline. By the end, what looked like a survival story becomes something genuinely cool, the kind of progression that makes you realize the show knew exactly where it was going, even when episode one wouldn't explain anything.

Chu Mu, heir to the Chu Clan, falls victim to a scheme by Xia Guanghan, who implants him with the White Nightmare and has him sent to Green Nightmare Island, where he is expected to die. Under the rule of the Nightmare Palace, he and Mo Xie, a small Moonlight Fox he captured and made his soul pet, are forced into brutal fights to stay alive. Their struggle carries them to the top, and Chu Mu becomes the youngest king of the Prison Island. Freedom from the island is only the start, though. Chu Mu hurries back to Gangluo City to protect his family, while Mo Xie's talent draws Xia Guanghan's greed. The story is an action fantasy adventure set in a world teeming with soul pets of every kind, from beasts and plants to elements and undead, and it follows a young trainer and his fox as they rise through a land where the strong feed on the weak.
