Amawari is the tenth lord, or aji, of Katsuren Castle in the Ryukyu Kingdom, the state that existed before Japan annexed the islands. He is remembered in wider history as a villain who schemed to rebel against the kingdom, yet in his home region people celebrate him as a hero. Uruma City in Okinawa Prefecture produced this two-episode historical short as a promotional piece. It is set among the ruins of Katsuren Castle, now a World Heritage Site. The animation plays at a history and culture facility at the foot of the ruins, and for that facility's first anniversary it was put on YouTube for a limited time.
