A rich girl loses everything and gains nothing but spite, a goldfish, and a countryside full of people who refuse to let her stay miserable. The animation moves like watercolor poured across paper, each frame settling into you instead of demanding attention. Chitose Fujinomiya is a wealthy girl who stays a snob whether she is rich or poor. After her father dies, the debts he leaves behind nearly bankrupt her, and she is forced out of the upscale City Academy. All she has left are the clothes she is wearing and Gyopi-chan, a pink goldfish that is her only keepsake from her father. Wandering aimlessly, she collapses at Country Jr. High, a poor but cheerful school where the students are rough yet friendly and farm animals roam the grounds and even sit in on lessons. Once she recovers, Chitose enrols there, though the school's poverty is something she is not used to and finds off-putting. The result is a comedy built on the clash between a proud rich girl and her humble new surroundings.
