A squirrel who was born and grew up in a quiet forest sees his home and every creature living in it threatened when humans begin destroying the woods. He takes up the fight to protect the forest, and meets hardship and one trial after another along the way. Produced by Tezuka Productions, the film is an experimental work built around deforestation, and Osamu Tezuka spent more than ten years making it as a tribute to the early pioneers of American animation. The whole piece was written and animated to Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony, which gives this fantasy adventure its musical framework.
