The Italy arc wraps Lupin in the best animation TMS has ever pushed out, making every heist feel like a heist movie instead of a TV show riffing on one. Each episode is its own perfect theft, then the overarching plot about whether Lupin actually married for love pulls the thread that unravels everything you thought you knew about him. The tonal whiplash in the second half kills some momentum, but by then you're already invested in whether a master thief can actually want something he can't steal.

Lupin the Third is back, and this time San Marino is the target of his thieving. The surprise is his marriage to Rebecca Rossellini, a well-known heiress and businesswoman. His gang attends the wedding in shock, and Interpol's Inspector Zenigata, still set on arresting Lupin, bursts in to object. Jigen is sure Lupin must have a plan, and Goemon hopes he does, but has the thief truly fallen for someone other than Fujiko? Lupin is not the only schemer in the area, either, and an MI6 agent named Nyx is also working there. Set in Italy and San Marino, the series blends action, adventure and comedy, and Lupin now wears a blue jacket.
