The Tachibana stepbrothers, Soichirou and Toma, press on with their goal of reviving Meisei Academy's baseball team. After the team's result in the summer tournament, a wave of students signs up, and Nishiki Kenji, who left over a clash with the manager back in middle school, comes back. The next spring brings new first years, among them aspiring pitcher Natsuno Ichiban and Akai Ryou, the stepbrother of Akai Tomohito, who gave up the sport feeling overshadowed. At Tomohito's request, Toma plays the villain to coax Ryou onto the roster. With the Eastern Tokyo preliminaries under way, Meisei faces tough rivals such as Kenjo, Seinan and Eishin in pursuit of a national berth, while comedy and romance run alongside the games.
