A sheltered princess yearns to see the world beyond her kingdom's protective walls, but monsters make that dream seem impossible. Then she meets Mikoto, a charming traveler who awakens her sense of possibility, until she witnesses his true nature as Momotaro, a demon-slayer whose methods are far more brutal than she ever imagined. Horrified yet more convinced than ever that she must learn about the wider world, Saltherine leaves home and follows the path of the boy she met that day. What unfolds is a fantasy adventure through a land where humans, demihumans and oni are bitterly divided. Along the way, Saltherine learns truths her royal upbringing kept from her, including how dangerous the oni can be. She carries a peach-shaped power of her own, yet she hopes the three peoples might one day live in peace, while Mikoto, who wields the same gift with greater skill, is set on destroying every oni.
