Three minutes of flip-book drawings and a piano score that does all the talking. A man watches a swing move back and forth, and you understand every regret he's never spoken aloud. The animation is deliberately crude, almost childlike, but that's exactly why it breaks you, it trusts the music and your own memory to finish what the images start.

Pendulum is a short special of about four and a half minutes, drawn by the comedian Tekken and first aired on a Japanese variety program. A high school boy saves a girl from a group of delinquents, and she goes on to become his wife. The film traces the ups and downs of their life as a family of two, as the pair work past their differences and weather hard times together. Blending drama, romance and slice of life, the short was later lengthened into the official music video for the Muse song heard in it, "Exogenesis Part 3 (Redemption)".
