Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions keeps its mysteries locked behind Ron's genius, so you're never solving them alongside him. That could feel cheap, except the show knows its real hook is watching a burnt-out prodigy and a straight-laced cop actually start to trust each other, case by case. The mysteries are just the engine that forces two people who shouldn't work together to keep showing up at each other's door.

Ron Kamonohashi was brilliant once, the top student at the elite detective academy BLUE, until his involvement in a murder case got him expelled and barred from ever working as a detective. Now he's a messy-haired shut-in with sharp instincts and zero official authority. When police detective Totomaru Isshiki shows up seeking help with a serial murder case that has gone unsolved for months, Ron reluctantly agrees and cracks it in under a day. But Ron carries a mysterious condition that can put the people around him in mortal danger. As the mismatched pair keep solving crimes, BLUE sends operatives to find out whether its former student is investigating again.
