Yi Sa doesn't want to teach anyone, but she has to, and the show knows the difference between those two things. The "Golden Soup" dives are genuinely tense, but the real pressure lives in watching her decide, moment by moment, whether this stranger is worth the cost of training him. Water Ghost lore builds slowly, each river clan rivalry revealing something about why Yi Sa carries so much weight alone, and the show doesn't rush you through it.
SYNOPSIS
Yi Sa runs an underwater bank along the Lancang River, preserving secrets and treasures in the depths. She's the last surviving member of the Yi clan, one of three Water Ghost families who've guarded these waters for generations. Water Ghosts are rare individuals with the ability to navigate water as freely as land, wielding geomancy and an instinct for finding what others have lost. When Yi Sa rescues a drowning man named Zong Hang during a catastrophic dive, she sees something in him worth saving. She takes him under her wing, teaching him the impossible skill of becoming a Water Ghost himself. Their partnership draws the attention of Ding Yu Die from the rival Ding clan, and the three form an uneasy alliance. Together they pursue a legendary location called the Ancestral Golden Soup, a primordial site said to hold answers about Water Ghosts, their origins, and perhaps a way to save Yi Sa from a curse she's carried her entire life. What they find in those depths could change everything.
