Amu is living a lie and she knows it, so when magical eggs literally hatch from her heart, the show forces her to stop performing and actually become the person she's been faking. The Guardian Characters aren't cute mascots, they're pieces of her real self she's been hiding, and every transformation is her admitting something true out loud. Her new companions draw the attention of the Seiyo Elementary Guardians, a student council group whose members each have a Guardian Character of their own, and they recruit her as their Joker to track down X Eggs, the corrupted form of a person's Heart Egg. Behind it all is the Easter Company, which is extracting people's eggs in search of a special one called the Embryo. Mixing comedy, romance and magical girl action, the series follows Amu as she learns more about these Characters and discovers her true self.
