Amu stops running from what she actually feels, and the show stops pretending the romance doesn't matter. Character development means something here, even when it's just her sitting with the weight of choosing between two people who genuinely care about her. The problem is brutal filler that pads two-thirds of the runtime into nothing, so what hits lands harder precisely because it's buried under episodes that don't matter.

Amu's life should be simpler now that Easter has gone quiet, and the Seiyo Elementary Guardians finally have room to think about things beyond fighting off the corporation. For Amu, that means trouble deciding which boy she likes most, and keeping Ikuto hidden in her bedroom. The Guardians still search for the Embryo, an egg said to grant any wish, and they must reach it before Easter does. Easter's sudden inactivity only makes them uneasy. Then Easter brings in Lulu de Morcerf, an aloof girl whose ruby necklace turns Heart Eggs into Mystery Eggs. These are harder to purify than X Eggs and can force their owners into a Character Transformation. The sequel to the first season mixes magical girl action, comedy and romance.
