The floating islands are real, but only Yumemi can see them, and the moment Munto crashes into her normal life, she has to choose between the comfort of invisibility and the weight of knowing something broken needs her. Kyoto Animation renders this choice in watercolor softness that makes the impossible feel intimate. The problem is the show never bothers to explain what any of this actually costs, which means half the audience feels transcendence while the other half watches confusion in pretty frames.

Yumemi is an ordinary girl with one difference: she is the only person who can see the islands of the Heavens floating in the sky. Munto, the Magical King, is trying to save both his Magical Kingdom and the Heavens by restoring the flow of akuto, the energy that runs through everything. Guided by a vision, he sets out to find Yumemi in the normal world. When he appears before her, she begins to think about the responsibility that she and other people have toward the world. The series is a nine-episode fantasy adventure.
