The title screams dessert anime and then pivots hard into running a broke kingdom with charm you didn't expect. Pastry's actual superpower isn't sweets, it's seeing what people need and refusing to let his fief crumble, one diplomatic crisis at a time. The mismatch between premise and reality is the entire point: a pastry chef's determination to build something that lasts matters more than perfect cakes ever could.

Nine-year-old Pastry Mille Morteln is the heir to Morteln, a poor fief governed by his father, the military hero Lord Casserole. In a past life he was a gifted pastry chef who died before reaching his dream of making the world's finest sweets. In this medieval world of swords and magic, ingredients are so scarce that baking is a luxury he can only dream of. When bandits threaten the land, Pas must learn to fight and master his new magical talents to protect his home. He also faces eccentric and ill-intentioned nobles, money troubles, and ground so barren that even water is hard to find. His hope is to one day turn Morteln into a paradise of sweets. The show mixes fantasy action with slice-of-life moments.
