The villainous Professor Achimov robs the 22nd century's power centre of an energy capsule, and the theft plunges the entire city into a blackout. Only one capsule is left, so the Doraemons agree to carry it back to the power centre themselves and restore the city. Their ride there is a steam locomotive driven by a girl called Robin. The film is a fantasy adventure built around that rescue journey.
