Ranze's parents are a vampire and werewolf losing sleep over whether their daughter is just a regular girl. The show builds its entire comedy on that specific domestic absurdity, the thing that would ruin any other romance anime becomes the launching pad for every joke. She's trying to figure out who she is while her supernatural parents fret like any other mom and dad, and somehow that contradiction is the whole heart of it.
Ranze Etou is a fifteen-year-old junior high student whose home life is anything but ordinary: her father is a vampire, her mother is a werewolf, and the family lives in a castle. Ranze has shown no supernatural powers yet, and her parents fret that she may turn out normal. At her new school she falls hard for Shun Makabe, who barely notices her, while the jealous Yoko Kamiya, daughter of a yakuza boss, sees her as a rival. Her parents want nothing to do with her dating a human. Then an argument ends with a bite, and Ranze finds she can turn into whoever she bites. The result is a fantasy romantic comedy.
