Ataru chasing every girl except the one literally shocking him into oblivion never gets old because Lum's rage is funnier than his schemes. The show moves at a sprint, hitting three solid gags before you catch your breath, then slows just enough for the romance to land genuinely. It knows exactly what it is: a love story about two people who drive each other insane, told entirely through comedy that earns every laugh instead of begging for one.

Ataru Moroboshi is a high school boy with one singular passion: chasing girls. Lum, the beautiful daughter of an invading race of Oni aliens, has fallen hard for him, but the devoted skirt chaser shrugs off her powerful electric shocks and keeps pursuing every pretty girl he sees. Around them swirls a crowded cast: classmate Shinobu, the graceful shrine maiden Sakura, Lum's friends Oyuki, Benten and Ran, the Buddhist monk Cherry, the bratty little Ten, rich heir Shuutarou Mendou, and Ryuunosuke, a beauty who is secretly a girl. This second season keeps the slapstick romantic comedy going, mixing sci-fi and supernatural elements in a story where anything can happen.
