A dog watches his writer owner's life unfold and narrates it with the acid observations of a Victorian novelist trapped in a mutt's body. A novelist's household in Chiba Prefecture keeps an unusual secret: their dog Don Matsugorou can talk, though only the daughter Kazuko knows it. Don comes out of a fight with King, the neighbors' upstart mongrel who thinks far too highly of himself, nursing fresh wounds. That is only the start of his problems. A fellow dog named Chotaro is kidnapped, and Don has to step in and rescue him. Along the way a dog named Ogin crosses his path and brings a chance at romance. The result is a one-off comedy special with a slice-of-life feel, built around the everyday misadventures of a dog who can speak with people.
