The Yun family bloodline comes down to one young man, Yun Feixue, after his father Yun Tiangang and his brother Yun Fei Shan are assassinated on a mission escorting a dragon vein, eight years before the story. Yun Feixue is a mystery himself. A parasitic power has fused with him and become a phantom that looks exactly like him, and it lives in his consciousness, steadily building strength and waiting to devour his soul. He has barely suppressed the phantom when the tragic news of his father's and brother's deaths reaches him. Outwardly he stays idle, but in secret he gathers an organization called Shadow to look into the mystery of that year. The result is a fantasy built around an inner threat and a hidden investigation.
