Tomoko's internal monologue has never been sharper, and watching her convince herself that everyone else is the problem while the camera cuts to reality saying otherwise is comedy that actually lands. The OVA stretches the dual perspective gimmick to its breaking point, letting you see how completely different two people can interpret the exact same conversation. Five minutes of this hits harder than half-hour episodes that forgot what made the series work in the first place.

Tomoko Kuroki returns in a single bonus episode that came with the limited first edition of the seventh manga volume and serves as a thirteenth episode of the TV anime. Aomatsu is a plain middle school otaku whose days pass without much happening. Hoping for a change, he heads up to the school roof and finds a strange girl with jet-black hair there. He has no idea she is Tomoko, a girl known for her odd behavior. Their talk sticks with him, and he keeps going back to the roof every day hoping to see her. Tomoko, though, sees these meetings very differently, and the two end up remembering one particular event in very different ways. The result is a comedic slice of life side story.
