A man is assassinated, and death is only where his story starts. His troubled spirit, set adrift by the murder, is carried along in a kind of delirium that rises toward the sky, or perhaps sinks toward hell. The film follows this uneasy ghost on a dreamlike passage through dying and the world beyond, then back again among the living. A psychological film, it offers an unusual angle on the familiar figure of a murdered soul who cannot rest.
