The courtroom stops being a game the moment Godot walks in. He's not there to win cases, he's there to break the person across from him, and every trial becomes personal in a way the series hasn't earned yet. Phoenix doesn't understand why this man hates him, and neither do you, which means you're solving a mystery that runs deeper than any contradictory testimony.

Defense attorney Ryuuichi Naruhodou keeps defending people who have been wrongly accused, often winning with a sudden turnaround at the last moment. His assistant Mayoi Ayasato, a medium still in training, stays at his side as his name spreads as a protector of the innocent. That success draws the notice of Godot, a masked, coffee-loving newcomer to the prosecution who holds a grudge against Ryuuichi that no one can explain. Backed by their friends, Ryuuichi and Mayoi face this rival directly and try to learn why he has shown up. Soon the earliest two cases handled by Mayoi's late sister, Chihiro Ayasato, prove essential to unraveling a strange murder, adding another chapter to the violent history of the Ayasato family. The show mixes courtroom comedy and drama with mystery and supernatural elements.
