A man bleeding out forces his soul into his sister's body and now they're screaming at each other from inside the same skin while enemies close in. The body horror isn't the point, it's the intimacy of being trapped with someone you can't escape, can't kill, can't ignore. A 1991 OVA that moves like it's running out of oxygen, every frame counts because the characters literally don't have time to waste on backstory or sentiment.

Japan lies under the secret rule of the Shinogara, a tyrannical ninja organization. Hayate Kanuma, its top assassin, turns against it and kills his own father, who leads the group. Hunted by his former comrades and possibly mortally wounded, he moves his soul into the body of his sister, Shiori. She can now wake him and draw on his ninja skills whenever the Shinogara come near, but each time she does, a little more of who she is slips away. The four-episode OVA mixes action, adventure and the supernatural, and asks how long two souls can share one body and how Hayate might finally bring the Shinogara down.
