Wu Cheng'en sets out on a pilgrimage of his own toward the Western Regions, searching for Enlightenment. In one account the lead is Wu Daoying, a young man set on finding monsters. Fed up with the dull, going-through-the-motions routine of a yamen runner, he walks away from the job in anger and joins Qingxuan on the monster-hunting road. Clashing with one monster after another, he pushes past his own limits and firms up his convictions, relying on courage and compassion both to grow and to protect others. The 12-episode action fantasy ONA adapts the novel Wu Chengen's Monster Hunting.
