Anpanman doesn't pretend to be anything but what it is: a show about a bread-headed hero who punches his way through catastrophe to feed hungry kids. This movie is exactly that, stripped down to the core ritual, disaster strikes, friends show up, Anpanman gets his face replaced when it cracks, and the island gets saved because someone needed saving. It's the franchise at its most honest: pure optimism with no irony, no deconstruction, just a hero who exists to fix things and a kid watching who believes that matters.

Anpanman and his friends are invited to Banana Island, a southern country, by its energetic princess and her humble servant Banna for the island's biggest event, the Banana Festival. When they arrive, a cold, stormy day falls over the island and all of its banana crop withers. While the group looks for the cause on Banana Mountain, a water monster appears and threatens to return the island to the water world. With Banna's help, Anpanman and his friends set out to rescue the island from the crisis in this feature-length adventure.
