Nobody talks about this one. The show takes its absurd premise, kids fighting an evil empire with sentient sandwiches and living pasta, and never winks at the camera, just commits completely to the bit with genuine stakes and real character chemistry. It's got the monster-battle structure of Pokémon but actually funny, moving at a pace that respects your time instead of stretching five minutes of plot across half an hour. The food designs are weird enough to stick with you years later. A kid trying to save the world discovers his real power isn't the monsters, it's the two people standing next to him.

Zen is an eleven-year-old boy who teams up with his younger sister Karen and Pitan, a young boy with an enormous appetite. Together the three take on an evil empire, and they fight it with Foodons, odd monsters that are made out of different kinds of food. The TV series runs 26 episodes and mixes adventure and fantasy with plenty of comedy.
