A cooking show that treats every dish like a final boss battle. The food reactions hit like power-ups, the competition runs on pure shounen adrenaline, and watching Soma trash-talk his way through an elite academy while making comfort food feel revolutionary never gets old. This is what happens when you take the hunger and ambition of a tournament arc and swap the swords for a cutting board.

Souma has spent his whole life cooking in his family's diner, dreaming of the day he finally surpasses his father as a chef. When his dad suddenly closes the restaurant and enrolls him in Totsuki Academy, everything changes. This elite cooking school admits few and graduates only around a tenth of its students. Souma, a humble short-order cook, immediately runs into Erina Nakiri, a gifted student known as the God Tongue who tries to keep him from getting in at all. At Totsuki, students settle disputes through fierce cooking duels called Shokugeki, and the curriculum is harsh. Souma vows that if he leaves the academy, it will be as its top student. The show plays these kitchen battles for comedy with a heavy dose of ecchi.
