Princess Vanilla's whole kingdom runs on something she physically cannot do, and that shame is specific enough to gut you even in a kids' movie. Anpanman doesn't fix her with a pep talk or magic, he walks beside her while she figures out what her actual gift is. The real hit lands when you realize the ice cream land's biggest crisis wasn't her absence. It was that nobody asked her what she was good at in the first place.

Princess Vanilla lives in a land made of ice cream, yet she cannot produce any ice cream herself, however much she practices each day. Tired of failing, she runs away from her palace and soon crosses paths with Anpanman and Kokin-chan. As she travels alongside them, she comes to understand why her ice cream never forms. While the princess is gone, Baikinman strikes at her homeland. This feature-length entry in the Anpanman franchise pairs comedy with a fantasy setting built around frozen treats.
