Shin gets trapped in a war that was never his choice, flying combat missions for a country he doesn't care about while the life he actually wanted slips away one contract year at a time. SYNOPSIS
Makoto Shinjou arrives at Area 88, a military airbase buried in the Asran desert, camera in hand. He came to document the mercenary pilots who wage war for the kingdom, but what he finds is a personal tragedy masquerading as routine combat operations. Shin Kazama, a former commercial airline pilot from Japan, is trapped here by betrayal. His best friend's deception forced him into a contract that cost him everything: his dream job, his fiancée Ryoko, his future. Now Shin faces an impossible choice. He can serve out a three-year contract, scrape together 1.5 million dollars in blood money, or attempt a desertion that will almost certainly kill him. As Makoto documents the base's operations, he watches Shin navigate the suffocating cage of his circumstances, caught between survival and the life waiting back home. The harsh desert heat mirrors the pressure closing in on him daily.
