The comedy is so good you forget you're supposed to be rooting for a classroom full of failures to commit murder. What unfolds is a bizarre contest between students and instructor, as he trains Nagisa Shiota and his classmates to excel both at their studies and as assassins. The humor comes fast alongside moments that land harder than any explosion. It balances whimsy with real stakes, and comedy sits comfortably next to drama and unexpected emotion.
