Black Jack meets a doctor who charges for death the way he charges for life, and the movie doesn't blink at the question it poses: who's actually saving people? The corporate bombing, the activists, the two doctors operating in the margins, none of it matters as much as watching Black Jack confront someone who's found a way to be merciful that his skill and arrogance can't touch. By the end you're not sure which one is the villain, and that uncertainty is the point.

Black Jack, a doctor who charges enormous fees, meets Dr. Kiriko while treating victims of a bombing aimed at the Daedalus Group, a vast corporation targeted by a small band of activists calling themselves the Ghost of Icarus. Known as Death Incarnate, Kiriko also demands huge payments, but he grants his patients a painless death rather than a cure. When the activists ask both doctors to cooperate, Black Jack is drawn into a web of life, death and betrayal. He struggles to keep his patients alive and to stop a biological war that could wipe out humanity in this dramatic feature film.
