A doctor who fixes the unfixable for money you can't afford, then leaves before you understand why he cared enough to show up. Black Jack operates in the spaces between what medicine allows and what a single person's skill can force into being. Each episode strips away the mystery just enough to make you wonder if his cruelty and his mercy are the same thing.

Black Jack is a young, enigmatic surgeon who practices without a license yet possesses almost godlike skill. He travels around the globe carrying out operations that seem impossible, demands enormous payment for them, and stands against the corruption he finds within the medical establishment. This twelve-episode drama is made up of short Flash-animated stories, each drawn from one issue of the original manga. Compared with most other Black Jack adaptations, it gives more weight to personal relationships and to the history behind its characters.
