The show builds an airtight logical cage around its magic system, then systematically proves every character wrong about what's actually happening inside it. Every plot twist doesn't just surprise you, it forces you to reconsider what the previous twist meant, turning the whole narrative into a game where the show has been three moves ahead the entire time. A sorceress in a barrel and a murdered girl seem like separate stories until they're not, and by then the show has already rewritten what you thought the rules were.

Hakaze Kusaribe, the most powerful sorceress of her clan, is shut inside a barrel and exiled to a deserted island by Samon, a relative who wants to revive the Tree of World's End, a destructive force opposed to the Tree of Origins that shields her family. A message she casts out to sea is found by Mahiro Fuwa, a boy bent on revenge against whoever killed his younger sister, Aika. He agrees to help Hakaze on one condition: her magic must find the murderer. After Mahiro saves his best friend Yoshino Takigawa, who had been secretly dating Aika, Yoshino is pulled into the struggle as well. The two edge closer to the truth about Aika's death while a crisis that could doom the world takes shape. The show blends action, mystery, fantasy and romance into a tragic tale of magic and revenge.
