A high school kid falls for the girl with the unbeatable robot, so he has to beat her robot first. That's it. That's the entire premise, and it never pretends to be anything bigger. The budget is threadbare, but the character designs and timing are sharp enough that you forget to care, and the romance feels earned because both characters actually have to prove something to each other instead of just existing in proximity.

In the year 2007, the people of Danger Planet II settle their conflicts with remote-controlled robots called virtual puppets. Kirio Nimura, a high school student, is the strongest puppeteer on the planet. Then he falls for Sairi Takahara, who refuses any romantic advances from anyone who has not first beaten her puppet, Benkei. The result is a single-episode sci-fi mecha adventure built around that challenge.
