Seina's luck is so catastrophically bad it wraps around to good, and the show commits completely to that absurdist logic instead of treating it as window dressing. The comedy actually lands because it's built on escalation, not explanations, which means you're laughing at what happens next, not waiting for a punchline to arrive. The fanservice gets intrusive enough to derail momentum, but the randomness of the plot keeps you off-balance long enough not to care.

Seina Yamada's luck is catastrophically bad. When a Galaxy Police recruiter comes looking for his senpai Tenchi, Seina ends up drafted into the force instead, and his misfortune somehow becomes his greatest asset. Because he keeps stumbling into pirates, he is given his own decoy ship to lure them out. Along the way he becomes entangled with four women: Amane Kaunaq, a former model turned detective; Kiriko Masaki, a friend who has known him for years; the mysterious Ryoko Balta, an ex-pirate named after a legendary one; and Neju Na Melmas, a childlike priestess who is 2000 years old. Around them, his bad luck tends to flip into good fortune. Together they fly some of the most powerful ships around against the Da Ruma pirates, while the question of which woman will win Seina's heart hangs over the action, comedy and mecha battles.
