A sniper that nobody can identify forces Case Closed into pure surveillance thriller mode, stripping away the cozy mystery formula and replacing it with genuine dread. Masumi Sera bleeding out isn't a plot beat, it's the moment the movie stops playing and starts hunting. The FBI and Black Organization finally collide in a way that actually matters, and Conan has to think faster than he's ever had to before.

A sniper's bullets tear through Tokyo, leaving confusion and fear in their wake. The first victim is a man shot dead on the observation deck of the Bell Tree Tower while Conan Edogawa is there, and Conan's attempt to catch the shooter fails. Suspicion falls on Timothy Hunter, a former Navy special operations member already under investigation for an earlier murder, and the FBI believes he wants at least three people dead. After two of them die, Timothy himself is killed, leaving the case without its only lead. Shuichi Akai becomes a target, Masumi Sera is shot, and Jodie Starling and Subaru Okiya are also involved. As word of the killings spreads, the city falls into panic and people are too scared to go outside. Conan must work out the meaning behind the killings and stop the sniper before more lives are lost. The film is a mystery with action and comedy mixed in.
