A retired soldier picks up a 14-year-old witch carrying a coffin, and that becomes the entire premise, no grand explanation, just three people on a road with a mystery that actually matters. The show moves like it knows exactly where it's going, stacking plot twists that recontextualize what you thought you understood without ever feeling cheap. Animation holds weight in the action scenes instead of cutting away, and the comedy lands because the characters feel like they're genuinely tired of each other's bullshit. By the end, you understand why a coffin matters more than saving the world, and you believe it completely.

Five years have passed since the Eight Heroes defeated Arthur Gaz, the Taboo Emperor, ending the centuries-long war between his empire and an alliance of six nations. Toru Acura, a 20-year-old former saboteur, struggles with peacetime because no job lets him use his combat skills. Then he meets Chaika Trabant, a white-haired 14-year-old wizard who hauls a coffin on her back. She is collecting the pieces of her dead father's body so he can be buried properly, and she hires Toru and his adopted sibling Akari to help. Agents of the Kleeman Agency, sent by the Council of Six Nations, soon pursue her. Once the siblings learn who her father was, they must decide between aiding her and protecting the fragile peace. The show mixes action, adventure, comedy and fantasy.
