Lelouch Lamperouge's plan to bring down the Holy Britannian Empire is falling apart. Schneizel el Britannia has taken his sister Nunnally, Suzaku Kururugi ignores his pleas for help, and the Black Knights are losing confidence in him as their leader. Meanwhile the United Federation of Nations has declared worldwide war on Britannia. Weakened by betrayals, stripped of much of his power and consumed by resentment toward Emperor Charles zi Britannia, Lelouch resolves to seize the Empire from within, since he cannot topple it from outside. The film is the third and last part of a theatrical remake trilogy retelling both TV seasons, a sci-fi mecha thriller full of action and drama.
