Two people hired to kill each other on their wedding night discover they're both immortal, and the show spends 60 episodes watching them stop pretending to hate each other. The con becomes real somewhere between the assassination attempts and the actual conversations. Two people from rival factions are pushed into a politically useful marriage: Jiang Yuan, a killer trained by the Tai Xuan Tower, and Shao Yue, who serves as holy maiden of the Jiu Xuan Sect. On the night of the wedding each attempts to murder the other, and both learn they are immortal. Each covets a treasure guarded by the other's sect, the Demon-Suppressing Bell and the Demon-Controlling Bell, so the former foes keep up a pretend marriage full of lies. What neither realizes is that the other is also a survivor from another world whose home the Void destroyed. Suspicious and forever testing one another, they become allies, searching for treasures that were once parts of a lost spaceship while the cultivation world watches them closely. They also hunt for some hope of beating the Void. Across 60 ONA episodes, the story mixes fantasy action with comedy.
