A god of misfortune crashes into two kids' lives and immediately gets mad that they're not screaming. The horror setup is real, but the actual show is watching a cosmically wronged creature slowly realize she has no idea how to be scary to anyone. Dara-san wants to be feared. Instead she gets adopted by the one audience that won't let her have it.

Two siblings, Hinata and Kaoru, wander through a mountain downpour and past a fence crushed by a landslide into a forbidden, treacherous forest. There, in the dark, they come face to face with Dara-san, a serpent deity who calls herself a god of misfortune and fully expects them to be terrified of her grotesque looks. Instead, they don't. What follows is an unlikely friendship with a god who turns out to be awkward, lonely and surprisingly easy to talk to. Reiwa no Dara-san mixes comedy with horror and supernatural elements, playing her frightening appearance against a string of funny and heartfelt adventures.
