The second season of Dark Gathering returns to the supernatural horror of the first. That season introduced Keitarou Gentouga, a psychic who fears ghosts and withdrew from the world after a disastrous run-in with a spirit. He came back out by taking a job tutoring Yayoi Houzuki, a child prodigy and gifted medium set on finding the malevolent spirit behind her mother's disappearance, who keeps pulling him into grotesque encounters with the paranormal.
