Kotoko solves supernatural problems by sitting still and thinking, while Kurou watches her work and falls for her completely. The romance isn't a subplot grafted onto a mystery show, it's the actual story, built on watching someone who traded her body for cosmic knowledge fall for the one person who isn't afraid of what she is. The show trusts you to care more about whether these two stay together than whether the youkai get their answers.

At eleven, Kotoko Iwanaga was taken by youkai and agreed to become their God of Wisdom, a go-between for the spirit and human worlds, giving up her right eye and left leg in return. Six years later, youkai still come to her whenever they need a problem solved. Kotoko has feelings for Kurou Sakuragawa, a university student whose relationship came to an end after he ran off alone when he and his girlfriend met a kappa. She senses there is something unusual about him, and he has in fact gained healing powers through an incident with a youkai. She asks him to team up with her on supernatural troubles, hoping he will one day return her affection. Their cases include sightings of a faceless woman carrying a steel beam, which appear months after an idol was accidentally crushed to death by steel beams. The show mixes mystery and the supernatural with comedy and romance.
