Ayumi's genuine belief that real-life crimes are actually a PreCure crossover waiting to happen is the purest possible collision between a kid's magical girl delusion and Conan's grounded detective work. The Junior Detective League has to solve an actual jewelry heist while one of their own is basically speedrunning her own fan fiction in real time. It's a special that knows exactly what it's doing: comedy built on the gap between what Ayumi sees and what's actually happening, wrapped in a mystery that doesn't need the magical girl stuff to work, which makes the joke land harder.

A string of jewelry store robberies is hitting the city, yet Conan's young friend Ayumi can hardly contain her excitement. She notices the crimes look a lot like events from her favorite magical girl show, Precure, and hopes she might meet a PreCure if the thieves strike again. Conan and the Junior Detective League are assigned to watch over Kaneko Jewelry Store, which is rumored to be the next target. By following a suspicious customer, they learn when the robbery will happen and where the gang is hiding, and the police appear to catch the culprits. Ayumi, however, notices something strange, and the league must solve a mystery with a cute twist. This comedic special is a crossover with Star Detective Precure! marking the 30th anniversary of Detective Conan.
