A wordless boy reclaiming his body one demon at a time discovers that survival isn't the same as living. A young ronin named Hyakkimaru wanders a war-torn land, sword in hand. He was born without limbs, eyes, ears, a nose or a mouth, and he gets by on the prosthetics and fighting skills given to him by the man who rescued him after he was abandoned in a river as a baby. His father, a greedy lord hungry for power, promised his unborn son's body parts to demons in return for dominion. Each demon Hyakkimaru defeats restores a stolen piece of himself, making every battle a step toward becoming whole. Enter Dororo, a scrappy orphan thief who crosses paths with Hyakkimaru and becomes his unlikely companion. Together they roam a countryside ravaged by war and supernatural terror, hunting the demons that hold Hyakkimaru's body and facing monsters and ghosts along the way. The result is a supernatural action drama built on survival and an unlikely friendship.
