Ryusuke, a junior high student from Tokyo, spends his summer vacation in Tokushima, where he reunites with his teenage cousin Tomomi. A day trip to the Anabuki River turns dangerous when the current pulls them under, and as they sink beneath the water, a dragon appears and carries them to safety, delivering them to a strange old man. He tells the two cousins the truth they never expected: they have already died. Their only way back to the world of the living is to journey through the spirit world and discover what their lives are meant for. Confused but with no other option, Ryusuke and Tomomi accept and set out on their search. Their path leads them first to a dim, weathered town that feels frozen somewhere in the 1960s, and from there the ordeal only escalates, throwing them from one frightening encounter to the next. Caught between two worlds, the cousins have to face what the spirit realm throws at them if they want to earn their way back to life. The film pairs a road trip through the afterlife with a coming of age undertone, built around family, fear, and the search for purpose.
